Vintage Super League Season 8: Meet Team Cardsphere.com!
Howdy folks! As you may have heard by now, Cardsphere is going to be sponsoring a team in the upcoming season of Vintage Super League, starting on April 19th at 6p PST!
For those of you who are unaware of what Vintage Super League is, it is a tournament played out by various Magic celebrities on Magic Online. Each Season's format is Vintage, but every Season does something a little different in regards to how the matches are played out week to week. This season is Team VSL, where teams of three will be competing for the title of VSL Champions! Full details can be found on the Vintage Super League website.
Without further ado, let's introduce our Team!
Randy Buehler
A long time Magic professional player as well as Wizards (of the Coast) employee, there isn't a name in Vintage that's more recognizable than Randy Buehler. With a passion for the game like no other, it’s always been a personal joy of mine to listen to Randy's commentary on the Vintage format, because he is always incredibly excited to be covering and playing his utmost favorite format of all time.
After retiring from the Wizards Coverage Team at the end of the 2015-2016 Pro Tour Season, Randy began to focus primarily on the Vintage format, promoting it heavily through various tournament series in addition to teaming up with Shotgun Lotus to create the Vintage Super League!
Eric Froehlich
A Magic Hall of Famer since 2015, Eric has been playing the game for quite some time. With multiple Pro Tour and Grand Prix Top 8's under his belt, Eric is a strong player who continues to put up great results time and again.
In addition, Eric writes for ChannelFireball as well helps produce Constructed Resources with Marshall Sutcliffe.
His wife, Athena Froehlich, is playing for the Hornet Queens this season, and is part of the production team that manages the Vintage Super League.
Reid Duke
One of the most recognizable Pro players Magic has today, and also in my opinion one of the greatest ambassadors the game has today, Reid Duke is a Pro like no other. Bursting onto the scene in 2011 with two Grand Prix Top 8's and taking off from there, Reid’s passion for the game and for its Eternal formats (Legacy and Vintage) are unparalleled among his peers (save for maybe Randy Buehler, his teammate).
But it's not just his play that makes him great. Reid is also one of the most widely respected players in the world, because of his positive attitude and infectious smile.
Reid spends much of his time working with his fellow teammates in the Peach Garden Oath - a group consisting of himself, Owen Turtenwald, and Huey Jensen. Reid also writes for ChannelFireball as well as having produced an article series called “Level One” to help players get better at Magic.
Wrapping Up
There you have it folks, the three players that will be representing Team Cardsphere.com in the upcoming season of Team Vintage Super League!
I’m very excited about this season, and we're going to be bringing you recaps of all the great action you’ll see each week. I can't wait until it starts. Vintage is by far one of my utmost favorite formats to play and write about, and I am even more excited to see Reid, Randy, and Eric do well this season.
Remember, the new season will begin on April 19th at 6p PST, so don't forget to tune in!
